Blue Cross Stores to Spread

After sucessfully launching a pilot store in Jacksonville, FL, Blue Cross and Blue Shield will be looking to expand its retail locations, known as Florida Blue, to other areas in the state. Possible future locations include Orlando, Miami, and Tampa and representatives say that the Jacksonville store in the St. Johns Town Center has been sucessful at both retaining existing customers as well as attracting new ones. The retail presentation was a new concept when it debuted in 2007 and was designed to help consumers become more informed and have more control over their health care decisions. The retail locations make information more accessible and give citizens the ability to talk to experts face to face and help find a plan that suits their needs. Do you think this type of thing is the future of healthcare? What will happen if Obama turns the country in the direction of government subsidized health care instead, will these types of facilities be phased out just as they begin to emerge?
