Combatting Florida’s Uninsured
Charlie Crist announced earlier in the year that getting coverage for the scores of Floridians without insurance was a top priority. The development of the Cover Florida Plan was part of that initiative and is aimed at providing coverage to people ages 19-64 who have been without coverage for at least 6 months. Recently, Blue Cross and United Healthcare were named as two providers of the plan across the state, while several other providers would cover specific areas within Florida. Low cost plans will average about $50 a month and will be much more comprehensive than previously provided, similar plans.
