Community Receives Insurance Help From Church
In South Florida, a collective of roughly 70 churches have joined together and made an alliance with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida to help their members receive health insurance. With a combined membership among the church groups totalling between 30,000 and 50,000, the agreement has resulted in reduced rates and insurance packages for its participating members. The collection of churches operates under the name Collective Banking Group of Miami-Dade & Vicinity Inc. The action was inspired by the fact that the Miami-Dade area ranks the highest in Florida for having citizens without health insurance, and is among the highest in the country. The alliance of community groups and the local health insurance company is hoping to make a difference in these numbers. What are your thoughts on this arrangement?
