Diabetics Affected by Recession
Many people are finding themselves in a situation where they must cut back on all costs, health care included. This is having a serious impact on Florida diabetics who are at risk for a number of complications and require a careful balance of medications to prevent bigger problems. Also at risk are the many people who may have diabetes and don’t know it yet, and for those who are opting to skip routine physicals, the disease may go undetected until bigger complications do arise. However, when a person has lost their job and health insurance, they may find they have no other choice but to skip doctor visits, cut back on insulin and ration their blood sugar testing kits, all of which could lead to disaster. Florida offers assitance through various programs to people who qualify, so why do people often go without instead of trying to seek help? Are they simply unaware that help may be available?
