Florida Bill Would Threaten Cost of Health Insurance
A dangerous bill is in the works in Florida, a bill which many feel should be vetoed if it can even make it to Governor Charlie Crist’s desk. The bill would change the rates (Life Insurance Blog) at which providers are reimbursed by health insurance companies for their services, and would basically destroy the PPO network which has been keeping costs from climbing too high for decades. State employees would be especially hard hit, and tax payers in general would be facing an added $22 million in increased costs to support the plan. The bill would undermine the ability of insurance companies to negotiate rates with providers, causing premiums to rise and resulting in higher out of pocket expenses. Make your opinion known here.
