Florida Burdened by Medicaid Enrollment
The growing surge in unemployment is leading to a drastic increase in the number of citizens who qualify for state funded health care. Medicaid enrollment is at a record high, unfortunately this comes at a time when budgets are being tightened and there are fewer available funds for programs such as these. For some states, Medicaid enrollment has doubled, overwhelming local agencies and quickly depleting resources. Florida is among the states with the highest enrollments, and currently has the largest caseload it has ever witnessed since the program’s inception in 1965. Obama’s proposed stimulus package is aimed at providing relief, but will it be enough?
