Florida Gays Fight For Benefits
Ironically, while America is ready for making history with a black president, they are apparently not ready to give equal rights to gays. With the recent passage of the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment, gays are threatened with losing rights and benefits associated with domestic partnerships. While the amendment seems redundant to many, given that gay marriage was already illegal in Florida, it still passed with a large majority. What is likely to happen as a result is that gay couples as well as many divorced and widowed elderly couples living together and sharing benefits without marriage will lose the ability to share benefits and may also lose visitation rights in hospitals. Florida gay rights groups are working to try and fight the potential effects of the amendment. How do you think Amendment 2 will affect the community, both gay and elderly?

You know, I have to tell you, I really enjoy this blog and the insight from everyone who participates. I find it to be refreshing and very informative. I wish there were more blogs like it. Anyway, I felt it was about time I posted, I’ve spent most of my time here just lurking and reading, but today for some reason I just felt compelled to say this.
