Massive Number of Uninsured Floridians

Marion county recently found out that the problem of people lacking insurance was bigger than expected, with roughly 60,000 residents remaining uninsured. While some link this problem to the economy and the rise in unemployment, the increasing number of people using emergency rooms for treatment continues to drive up the hospital’s uncompensated care costs. What can be done to alleviate the burden on emergency rooms as the uninsured rate continues to climb?
